On the first of September 2022, the ACT Government changed the rules relating to the Planning and Development Act 2007.
The specific rule change relates to the requirement to show how the developer meets the tree planting requirements outlined within the Single Dwelling Housing Code.
Our design plans will demonstrate how we meet the "Living Infrastructure Plan" conditions.
The application to develop your block may be required to demonstrate how you meet the new rules. This may require you to plant specific species and sizes of trees.
Outlined below is a summary of the new code conditions.
Large trees planted on blocks between 500-1599sqm in size need:
An expected mature height of >12m.
An expected canopy diameter of 8m or above.
A minimum pot size (at planting) of 75L – or, if a eucalyptus, a maximum pot size of 45L.
Please consult this list to see what trees you cannot plant on your property.
